{"id":2011,"date":"2017-06-26T17:31:54","date_gmt":"2017-06-26T17:31:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spydartv.com\/?p=2011"},"modified":"2017-06-26T17:31:54","modified_gmt":"2017-06-26T17:31:54","slug":"june-2017-council-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spydartv.com\/index.php\/2017\/06\/26\/june-2017-council-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"June 2017 Council Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lord of the Lakes Council Meeting<\/p>\n<p>June 20, 2017<\/p>\n<p>Attendance:\u00a0 Geoff Hendren, Bill Grau, Gail Gardner, Joe Groholski, \u00a0Kari Nigl, Pastor Kevin Heffernan, Kerry Arent, Wayne Ludkey<\/p>\n<p>Pastor opened the meeting with a prayer and devotion.<\/p>\n<p>Election of 2017\/2018 Officers and Committee assignments:<\/p>\n<p>Geoff Hendren \u2013 President<\/p>\n<p>Joe Groholski \u2013 Vice President<\/p>\n<p>Gail Gardener \u2013 Treasurer<\/p>\n<p>Kari Nigl \u2013 Secretary<\/p>\n<p>Ken Mueller \u2013 Youth Group<\/p>\n<p>Bill Grau \u2013 Buildings &amp; Grounds<\/p>\n<p>Kerry Arent \u2013 Stewardship<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Kevin &#8211; Worship<\/p>\n<p><strong>Team Reports<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pastor\u2019s Report<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pastor Kevin updated us on his month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Building &amp; Grounds<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weed killer was applied and the grass has improved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Worship<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Red, White, &amp; Blue service planned for July 4<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Outside service scheduled for 7\/16. Will also have 8am service at church that day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Youth<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The youth are leaving for their mission trip to Kansas City MO on 7\/16, and will return on 7\/23.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Courtney held a successful team building experience with the group.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Finance<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gail updated council the past monthly finances. Please refer to her report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stewardship<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We would like to continue to encourage members to sign up for Simply Giving, our auto giving program. Kerry and Wayne to look further into the pros and cons of online giving, and\/or a phone app.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Old Business<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Council to take steps to hire the maintenance person. Geoff will talk with members who have helped hire positions in the past.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>New Business<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Share and Care program \u2013 Kerry Arent discussed creating a display of small to large needs for the church.\u00a0 This would be above and beyond regular giving.\u00a0 More to come as this project comes together.<\/li>\n<li>Sunday school and Youth update \u2013 Pastor Kevin discussed a fun, new program to help integrate families in the classrooms.\u00a0 A new way to mix the adults and kids together.\u00a0 They are having a meeting this Sunday to plan further.<\/li>\n<li>Church usage fee \u2013 this was recently increased from $25 to $50.\u00a0 The people who currently use our space, such as the piano lessons, and yoga classes, will stay at $25 fee for the rest of this year.\u00a0 New users will be charged the $50.<\/li>\n<li>New safe for the office has been delivered.<\/li>\n<li>Cleaning cost of the church was discussed.<\/li>\n<li>Mental Health program \u2013 Pastor Kevin will be working with a pilot program through Samaritan Counseling.\u00a0 This is composed of mental health professionals, churches, and police departments.\u00a0 It is designed to help train people in the community.
